What's in the jar?

These weeks we (4th B and D) have been working on a charity project, but it started to be organized nearly two months ago, it’s called “what’s in the jar?”

This all begins nearly 2 months ago when our teacher told us to do research on a charity. I had to look for an environmental friendly charity so I decided to look for information from Greenpeace.

Then in groups of 4 to 6 people we had to decide on a charity and prepare a powerpoint explaining what the charity does and think about an activity to raise money for it. When all the powerpoints were presented we voted for the best idea and it came to be the “what’s in the jar?” project.

It consisted in filling up a jar with candies and, after paying 1 euro, people had a chance to win all the sweets that were in the jar if he or she guessed the exact number of candies in the jar. All the money collected would be given to Cáritas.

So we started to work on the project: some people were in charge of contacting with the charity, and the principal teacher to ask for permission to organize the activity, others were in charge of designing, printing and sticking the posters on the school’s walls and others were in charge of the stand.

We advertised it all over the school, even in social nets, and in Friday 10th we finally did the activity and it went better than I thought it would, we raised a lot of money and we were able to have the Tomares Cáritas

President there who was very happy to see what we had organized to help poor people. All the money was going to pay poor people’s electricity bills in Tomares.

So I think it was a very good experience, we learned how to organize events and it was for a good cause!

Here you have some pictures of the day!
